Certification as “Carbon Neutral Gas Combustion/Product”
It is not only politicians who consider climate change to be the greatest challenge of the 21st century. Increasing numbers of consumers are also becoming aware of the role they play and are changing their purchasing behaviour. For in order to prevent climate catastrophes, greenhouse gas emissions have to be reduced everywhere – including in the area of energy consumption. Use of carbon neutral gas can contribute to the reduction of global warming.
By taking advantage of “Carbon Neutral Gas Combustion” or “Carbon Neutral Gas Product” certification from TÜV UK, gas suppliers can draw attention to the environmental benefits offered by their product. Certification includes verification of the carbon footprint of the gas. Depending on the individual case, greenhouse gas emissions from the supply chain and/or the gas combustion are included in the footprint. Verification of carbon neutrality is also included; CO2 certificates have to be purchased from climate protection projects and then offset to compensate for emissions.

Prerequisites for certification
TÜV UK has developed standards for “Carbon Neutral Gas Combustion” and “Climate Neutral Gas Product” which are based on the wide ranging experience of TÜV UK in the area of national and international climate protection. The prerequisite for certification is the determination of a CO2 footprint and the creation of a monitoring plan according to the standard for the gas by the supplier itself or by a consultant. Valid CO2 certificates from climate protection projects should also be available, in order to compensate for the CO2 emissions that have been calculated for the company.
