ISO 9001:2008

The fourth edition of ISO 9001 was published on 15th Nov 2008. We have reviewed all the changes (see our comparison table), and found a limited number of areas, where additional action might be required from some of our clients who are already registered to ISO 9001, their consultants, and our assessors.

A quality system according to ISO 9001:2008 forms the basis of “total quality management“. Its primary objective consists in increasing customer satisfaction, enhancing product quality and cutting quality costs.

The benefits of subjecting quality systems to a critical appraisal by an independent third party are being acknowledged more and more in the service sector. By being verified, a company makes clear to all that its quality system has been inspected and verified by an impartial specialist. Customer confidence in such a company is greater than if the verification had been provided by its own quality department. The periodic surveillance audits pave the way to continuous improvement on the basis of the achieved status quo.

As a certification body TÜV NORD is able to certify your quality management system according to ISO 9001:2008. TÜV NORD has auditors with a wide range of training and experience and, hence, with a high level of specialist expertise. Our auditors have already audited and certified a whole series of banks, leasing companies, associations, educational bodies, hotel and catering facilities, trading companies, building cleaners, temporary labour agencies, publishing houses, forwarding companies etc.

Food Safety HACCP

HAACP
The Way to Food Safety

The passing of Council Directive 93/43/EEC on the hygiene of foodstuffs initiated a Europe-wide reform of the regulations governing food hygiene. The legislators require that each food company takes appropriate safety measures to maintain and improve food safety. This means that these companies are obliged to take internal inspection measures based on the HACCP system (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and to work according to it.

Among the companies to which this guideline applies are manufacturers and processors as well as traders and community catering (e.g. restaurants, canteens, catering facilities for hospitals or old people’s homes, hotels).

The declared objective of this guideline is to achieve a Europe-wide mutual understanding for the protection of consumer health, “Good Hygienic Practice“ and “Good Manufacturing Practice“. The HACCP centres around a concept which serves to identify and evaluate hazards and is aimed at controlling them.

As a certification body TÜV NORD is able to give you competent advice on all issues related to the observance of Good Hygiene Practice (GHP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) as well as to the introduction of HACCP systems. Our auditors can also certify
  • your HACCP system by means of the TÜV HACCP CHECK according to internationally recognised standards,
  • your quality management system according to BS EN ISO 9001 with due regard to the HACCP system.
Our auditors are trained food technicians and possess a high level of specialist expertise in the certification of HACCP systems.

    TS 16949, QS 9000 and VDA 6

    TOP
The quality requirements subsumed under the common category of TS 16949 serve to harmonize the formerly incompatible requirements placed on automotive suppliers by various car manufacturers. Relevant to the so-called “Big Three“ (Ford, General Motors and Chrysler) was QS 9000, whereas German manufacturers preferred the VDA series of guidelines. French and Asian manufacturers then had different requirements again. The objectives of TS 16949 are as follows: fault prevention, procedures for the release of production parts, continuous improvement as well as minimization of divergence and waste within the chain of suppliers.
The requirements of TS 16949 are relevant both to internal and external suppliers of production materials, production and spare parts, heat-treatment, lacquer, coating and other forms of surface treatment.

VDA vol 6, part 1 (VDA 6.1) comprises the requirements of the different standards and directives relevant to car manufacturers: requirements according to BS EN ISO 9001, requirements of the French automobile industry EAQF, requirements according to QS 9000 as well as requirements of specific branches of the German automobile industry.
A certification according to one of the automotive quality standards (and since the end of 2006 that is TS 16949) is demanded by the car manufacturers of almost all their suppliers.

If all relevant requirements are being met, TÜV NORD as an accredited certification body for TS 16949, QS 9000 and VDA 6.1 will issue a certificate according to BS EN ISO 9001 with a supplementary certificate according to TS 16949, QS 9000, or VDA 6.1.
